The Minneapolis Foundation Names Two New Trustees

MINNEAPOLIS , December 8, 2005 The Minneapolis Foundation appointed the following individuals to its Board of Trustees:

Katherine Hadley, Director of the Minneapolis Public Library . Ms. Hadley has been the Director of the Minneapolis Public Library since March 2003. Prior to joining the Library, she was the Commissioner of the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) from 1994 to 2002, appointed by Governors Carlson and Ventura . At MHFA, she led efforts to prevent and respond to long term homelessness, develop workforce housing, and rebuild communities following natural disasters such as the 1997 floods and 1998 tornadoes. Since joining the Library, Hadley has been instrumental in the success of the Library's first private capital campaign and managed a building plan that includes a new central library, scheduled to open in the spring of 2006.

Eric J. Jolly, Ph.D., President of the Science Museum of Minnesota . Dr. Jolly is known both for his contributions to mathematics and science education, as well as for his work with youth, families, and communities. He was a founding partner to the national “Collaboration for Equity” project, and co-director of “Access by Design” – a technology project of the National Science Foundation, and in 1994, he founded the National Institute of Affirmative Action. An acting member on the boards of numerous national mathematical and scientific organizations, Dr. Jolly serves locally on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Private Colleges Council, and is an advisor to the University of Minnesota 's Humphrey Institute on Nonprofit Leadership. He is the author of numerous books, articles, and curricula for students and teachers across the educational spectrum. Prior to joining the Science Museum of Minnesota, Dr. Jolly served as senior scientist and vice president for Education Development Center in Newton , Mass.
