Nommo
Forum is
a public policy series designed to explore divergent perspectives
on issues relevant to the African American community. The forums
will bring together preeminent Black authors and community leaders
to engage in the experience of "nommo," the magic power
of the word.
Each
author has written a landmark book and will speak on the most
compelling and critical issues of our times, including racism,
slavery, reparation and the Black experience. Community leaders
from business, the professions, non-profits, government, academia,
and the media. Participants are promised an insightful, intellectually
stimulating, and perhaps controversial evening with opportunities
for networking and relationship building. Sessions begin with
a presentation by the speaker, followed by questions and answers.
Books by each author will be available for purchase and signing.
The
fabrics used on this site were provided courtesy of Mimi's African
Art Gallery.

Nommo
is sponsored by the Givens Foundation
for African American Literature and The
Minneapolis Foundation with generous support from the University
of Minnesota.
